TeamBench ("we," "us," or "our") operates the TeamBench mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect:

• Full name
• Email address
• Password (stored in hashed form)
• Phone number (optional)
• Date of birth (to verify age requirements)
• City and ZIP code
• Role selection (Team Member, League Admin, or Game Day Pro)

Profile information. Depending on your role, you may provide:

• Profile photo / avatar
• Bio and skills description
• Preferred job types
• Payment method and payment handle (e.g., Venmo, PayPal, Zelle username)
• League affiliations

Minor users. If you are under 18, we collect a parent or guardian's name and email address to obtain verifiable parental consent before granting access to the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Usage data. We automatically collect:

• Device type, operating system, and browser information
• IP address and approximate location
• App usage patterns and feature interactions
• Crash reports and performance data

Messages. When you use our in-app messaging feature, we store the content of messages to deliver them to participants and provide message history. Messages are visible only to conversation participants.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Match Game Day Pros with job opportunities posted by Team Members and League Admins
• Facilitate in-app messaging between users
• Process and display ratings and reviews
• Send transactional emails (account verification, parent approval requests, job notifications)
• Send optional daily digest emails to parents of minor users
• Improve, personalize, and optimize the Service
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

• With other users: Your profile name, rating, bio, city, and preferred job types are visible to other users within your league. Team Members and League Admins can see your payment method and handle for job payment purposes.
• Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the Service, including Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (email delivery), and Expo (mobile app distribution). These providers access only the data necessary to perform their functions.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request.
• Safety: We may disclose information to protect the rights, safety, or property of TeamBench, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes, enforcing agreements).

Job records, reviews, and ratings may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to maintain the integrity of the review system.

5. Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
• Hashed password storage (never stored in plain text)
• Row-level security policies on our database
• Secure authentication with email verification
• UUID-based tokens for sensitive operations (e.g., parent approval links)

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your rights and choices

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information via your profile settings.
• Deletion: Delete your account and associated personal data through the app settings.
• Opt-out of emails: Parents of minor users can disable daily digest emails. Transactional emails (password reset, account verification) cannot be opted out of.
• Data portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

7. Parental controls

TeamBench requires verifiable parental consent for users under 18. Parents or guardians can:

• Review and approve their minor's account via a secure email link
• Receive daily digest emails summarizing their minor's messaging activity
• Request deletion of their minor's account and data at any time
• Opt out of the daily digest via email preferences

8. Cookies and tracking

The TeamBench web application uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. We do not participate in cross-site behavioral advertising.

9. Third-party links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. California privacy rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the categories of sources, the business purpose for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share information. You also have the right to request deletion and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
